Francesco Morandin was born in Mirano (VE) on the 12th November 1969. He studied at art college in Venice where he first encountered photography when he visited a friend’s dark room. He was accepted onto the course “Centro Formazione Professionale” in Milan and he attended the course for two years from 1990 to 1992. At the end of the course he was able to gain experience at the ‘Grazia Neri’ photographic studio and, this led to an offer of employment by the ‘Camera Press’ agency in London where he worked for nearly a year. For a couple of years he worked for some local papers and then thanks to a portrait exhibition in 1995, he was discovered by the head of photography for Benetton and became Oliviero Toscani’s assistant. Thus he started to work at the Fabrica multimedia research centre where he is still currently employed, carrying out photographic shoots mostly for the fashion industry.
