Thoughts about creating sculptures Impression and expression and vice versa - getting into a dialogue

Modelling or better creating is a deep process, listening inside and let the hands express something inside which you often did not realize before. Sometimes but seldom it is an idea of mind, concrete/exact and it is joyful to see the development of a character. Mostly it makes sense to let it flow and to stop purposes and expectations. Inside of us is a large number of inner personalities, characters, mythic creatures, life determing thoughts, feelings and hopes. Some of that inner figures are part of your own, full of soul and big expressions through the eyes and some of them were invited in our childhood, controlling, punishing or protecting inner processes. Some are cold, some are hot, some are dull.. and they all look outside through your eyes, if you let them. People can put different clothes on, change their hairstyling, keep emotions under control but when you look into someones eyes, you can realize his inner being at that special moment. Working by giving up control leads to something I would call emotional proportions, a big difference between left and right side for example or big hands and tiny feets. Sometimes I have the feeling to put wood inside the body, sometimes they have to be soft, weak, with or without wire. Occasionally I could not do better or I would have to control the distances but it would cost a high price. The figures would stop to be vivid and emotional and most of them would loose their overproportional big eyes and the influence of spiritual essence. I would like to invite to get into contact with the sculptures, -rough, but warm material - and to look from different sides to see the different expressions, depending on the light, the visual angle and your own feelings...
